Disappointment after the first ultra sound, two puppies visible, but both seemed dead and in the process of being re-absorbed.
Happiness a week later, one puppy was doing great! Moving around, and it's tiny heart beating strong. On day 61, Friday May 25th, we even saw the four chambers working together perfectly. But on Monday everything went inexplicably wrong. The baby died in the womb and Link needed a C-section.

Progesterone levels were perfect, and everything was looking great. Link was a very good girl, she did her part well. Now all we can do is wait until
Thanks to all the new owners that came with Indah, Imala, Rocky and Vito. Charlie (Shade/Mace 2009) also joined us. The stormy weather was quite nice, until we were taken by surprise by the rain (=time for a drink)! Everyone behaved perfectly, even as joggers, bikers and horses went by. A couple of thousands of miles to the south, another sibling was walking along the same coastline: Tin Tin in Portugal Maybe we should join her one day....
On Sunday November 27 we will be seeing the pups, and some of the other Dutch Shilohs again for a walk along the beach! Looking forwar
With the information that came out of the temperament testing, and having met and spoken to the several new owners, we've come up with great combinations.
Without a doubt they will be having a great time together! The vet came by today to chip and vaccinate the puppies. Their first visit to the vet's office with the new owners can be a fun one.
Puppies are on a mixture of kibble (Farm Food) and ground raw, so the new owners can choose their own way of feeding. This kibble is one of the only kinds that can actually be mixed with meat without problems.
Temperament testing scheduled for next Wednesday, so we can We've had our first visitors, and many to come still. Nice to meet the people where the puppies will go. Kind people and nice families, so it will be a little easier to part with the pups.
Started the babies on one meal a day, fresh organic meat and tripe, turned into a gruel with goatsmilk puppy formula. They loved it immediately! I thought they'd be a little shy the first time, but it turned them wild. Link is teaching the little ones manners. She wants them to be more respectful towards her. Now that they have sharp, little teeth, it must be unpleasant for her when they attack the nipples. Since the puppies can go in and out the whelping box, they are keeping their sleeping space completely clean We moved the puppies to the living room. Part of it looks like a stable now. On the floor we used hemp, to comply with the image foreigners must have of us Dutch people living near Amsterdam, lol. However, I must disappoint you, it's a non hallucinogenic kind.... Reportedly it's less dusty and more absorbing than wood chips.
The light is much better here, so lots of photos to come! I hate having to use the flash |
